"Can folklore and coffee coexist? Exploring the magic of The Bigfoot Café"

The Bigfoot Café

In the serene surroundings of the Los Padres National Forest, nestled within the cozy community of Pine Mountain Club (PMC), lies a unique gem that has quickly become the talk of the town - the Bigfoot Café. This enchanting café, located just twelve miles outside Ventura County, has not only captivated the hearts of locals but has also attracted visitors from far and wide, all thanks to its distinctive charm and the legendary figure it celebrates.

As you approach the café, the first thing to catch your eye is an impressive 8ft statue of Bigfoot, standing majestically to welcome all who come. Yet, the true warmth of the welcome comes from within, from the café's owners, William Graney and Amy Masuhara. With their genuine smiles and friendly greetings, they embody the very essence of hospitality. "Our goal is to provide a great atmosphere where you can come in and be greeted with warmth and kindness," Masuhara shares, her voice reflecting the sincere intention behind their mission.

The story of how the Bigfoot Café came to be is as interesting as its decor. Amy, a jewelry artist hailing from the San Fernando Valley, has made PMC her home for over two decades. William, a bookshop owner and writer, moved to this serene community from Simi Valley in 2018. Before the inception of Bigfoot Café, the duo was known for selling their products and organizing events at another local coffee shop. It was in July 2023 that an opportunity to open their own café knocked on their door, thanks to Julia and David DeLuise. Julia, with her roots in Germany, and David, whose family has been part of PMC since 1976, shared a common vision with William and Amy. "I love the whole idea of something magical, and that's what the Bigfoot café represents," Julia expresses, her eyes twinkling with the excitement of bringing something truly special to the community.

Its unique theme, combined with delicious food and coffee, offers an irresistible allure. PMC, known for its picturesque landscapes that offer a respite from lower elevations with snowy winters and cool summers, sees a flux of visitors from Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Diego counties. The weekends are bustling with adventure seekers stopping by after a day of exploration, while the weekdays welcome a familiar crowd of locals, each greeted by name, each finding a moment of peace and enjoyment in their busy lives.
